Beginning Blacksmithing – First weekend of the month
Enjoy two four-hour sessions developing and practicing foundational skills in the historic art of blacksmithing. Class will cover safety, tools, fire control, basic techniques and terminology. Class is designed for adults. Minors (under 18) may attend with a guardian.
Class will be working with coal and gas-fired forges.
Completing this class enables participants to volunteer in the blacksmith shop in the Pioneer Village – Living History Museum in Cameron, WI.
DATES: 2-4/HR class sessions; Saturday & Sunday;
TIME: 9-Noon on Saturday, Noon – 4 pm on Sunday
LOCATION: Tolliver Farm – Anvil Acres, 640 Mains Crossing, Amery, WI
INSTRUCTOR: Rick Tolliver, 40+ years of metal working experience
FEE: $139 to Amery Community Ed; pre-register
BRING:
*Eye, ear and skin protection to include OSHA safety glasses, ear plugs or ear muffs, leather gloves, leather/heavy canvas footwear, long-sleeved shirt and pants of cotton or leather.
*Water bottle
*Tools will be provided, but if you have a favorite hammer, pliers or tongs, please bring them along.
